Our Story

At Wonderwood Preschool, children are the leaders of their own learning, curious explorers who guide their educational journey through wonder, discovery, and play. Rooted in the Reggio Emilia, nature-based, and RIE approaches, our program values the whole child, emphasizing respect, independence, and authentic connection. Each day is an invitation to look closely at our community and the world around us, encouraging children to ask questions, build relationships, and see themselves as capable contributors. Our outdoor environment serves as a living classroom where imagination and inquiry flourish through hands-on, sensory-rich experiences. At the heart of Wonderwood is a deep commitment to social justice, diversity, and multicultural education. We celebrate every child’s identity, culture, and voice, nurturing empathy, inclusion, and a lifelong love for learning.

Our history

Wonderwood Preschool was created from a deep love for children and a desire to give them the kind of childhood they truly deserve, one filled with wonder, respect, and meaningful connection. I have had the opportunity to work in amazing schools where I learned what it truly means to be a childcare provider, guided by incredible mentors who shaped the way I care for and teach children. I was so intrigued by the preschool age group that I continued my education and earned a master’s degree in Child Development, deepening my understanding of how children learn and grow. Those experiences inspired me to open my own school where I could bring together all of that guidance, support, and knowledge into one intentional space.

Wonderwood is more than a preschool, it is a place where children feel safe to be themselves, where their ideas matter, and where learning happens through their natural curiosity. Every part of this space was created with intention to nurture confidence, independence, and a strong sense of self. It is a place where children can grow, feel deeply cared for, and truly belong.

Why We Consider Ourselves a Preschool, NOT a Daycare

A closer look at how our approach supports meaningful learning, confidence, and development in a nurturing home environment.

Traditional Daycare

Daycare primarily focuses on supervision and basic care throughout the day. Children are provided with a safe environment, meals, and free play, with less emphasis on structured learning or intentional curriculum.

In-Home Preschool (Wonderwood Approach)
At Wonderwood Preschool, we go beyond care. Our program is designed to support each child’s development through intentional, play-based learning experiences.

  • Activities are thoughtfully planned based on children’s interests
  • We focus on language, social-emotional growth, and early academic skills
  • Children are encouraged to explore, ask questions, and express themselves
  • Learning happens through play, creativity, and real-life experiences

In a smaller, home-like environment, children receive individualized attention while building confidence, independence, and a love for learning.

We are not just a place for care, we are a place where children are guided, supported, and inspired to grow.
